Prepare for your next rank with people who know how it is assessed

One-to-one coaching, mentoring and promotion support for officers and staff at every level, from first promotion to executive command.

We are both retired superintendents, former senior assessors at the College of Policing, and accredited coaches and mentors.

Who we support

Sergeant and inspector. Preparation for your force's process, whether it uses the National Police Promotion Framework or the new process being tested in some forces.

Chief inspector to chief superintendent. Support with applications, boards and assessment processes as the demands of command increase.

Executive command. Support for the College of Policing's Executive Leaders Programme, including your portfolio, force endorsement and the national development centre. We also support first chief officer applications.

How we help

  • Honest feedback on your application and evidence

  • Practice interviews, boards and presentations, with feedback from an assessor's perspective

  • Help to identify your strengths and close any gaps

  • Mentoring as you prepare for a new rank or settle into one

  • Group sessions for forces and promotion cohorts

The frameworks we know

We work with the latest versions of the College of Policing's Competency and Values Framework and understand the Korn Ferry leadership model used by the Metropolitan Police Service. We will help you understand what your process is looking for and show it through your own experience.

Recent results

This year, we successfully supported candidates applying for the College of Policing's Executive Leaders Programme, the Metropolitan Police superintendents process and promotions processes in other forces across the country.

How we work

Our coaching is one-to-one and tailored to you. We draw on your evidence, any feedback from previous applications and a needs assessment completed with you before your sessions begin.

Coaching is confidential, and we do not use live assessment material. We cannot guarantee an outcome, but we will support you throughout your process.

How you lead shapes how your people treat the public. We will help you show that clearly, because it matters to your team as well as to your assessors.

Policing Edge is independent of the College of Policing, the Metropolitan Police and Korn Ferry. We study previous processes in detail looking for trends and outliers, and current policing issues so that you are well prepared for assessment.
